Take it Outside
Outdoor Play Set
Do your little ones love to play outside? When the weather is sunny, there's nothing better than racing across that bright green lawn with your bare feet. I should know; I did it all the time as a kid. I simply loved to play outdoors. You can have the television set and the video games! When summer hit, it was outdoor fun all the way. These days I enjoy watching my seven year old daughter have a blast outside. When she comes home from school, the first words out of her mouth are, "Can I go play outside?" I love to hear this. So many children in this day and age prefer to stay inside. Unfortunately this can lead to weight problems galore. We have to encourage our young ones to play and have fun with their imaginations again. The only difference between when I was a kid and now is that my little one has a cool outdoor playset to aid her in having a blast outside.

Canvas Wall Tents
Many of us have spent cramped, cold nights in nylon dome tents, wondering when we could get back to our nice warm homes.  This is as true of car campers as it is of backpackers, since most families don't have enough space in their tents as they need.  One nice alternative to the standard nylon tent is a canvas wall tent.

Ice climbing

Ice climbing may seem insane to many people, even those who regularly strap themselves into harnesses and climb up thousand-foot rock walls.  “But we’re climbing on rock,” these climbers protest, “They’re just climbing on ice.  Sometimes they can even see and hear the waterfalls thundering below the ice!”  Though it may seem nuts, ice climbing is a safe, fun sport if the right equipment is used and proper precautions are taken.

Poison Ivy Cure

A bad poison ivy rash can take weeks to go away and can drive you crazy with itchiness.  As an avid backpacker and camper, I’ve had my share of poison ivy rashes, and I’ve tried a lot of different poison ivy cures.  Some of them don’t do anything at all, yet others are actually very effective.

Tsunami

If they’re lucky, the closest humans will ever come to a tsunami is in the legendary artwork of Hokusai, the world-renowned artist who rendered the tsunami in the wood block painting, The Great Wave (also titled The Breaking Wave off Kanagawa).  In the mid 1800s painting, the tsunami dwarfs the monumental Mt. Fujiyama, as it almost obliterates the small humans in normal swift boats (called Oshiokuribune) that here are suspended, inert, static against the overpowering tsunami.

White Water Rafting

I don't know about you, but I'm not the kind of person who goes on vacation just to lie on the beach somewhere or staying at home and getting started with container gardening for a new hobby. I would much rather spend my time doing something new and exciting. That's why my recent vacations have included off-road motorcycling, snowmobiling, bungee jumping, and white water rafting. Out of all of those trips, I would have to say that I enjoyed white water rafting the most.
